How to be More Sustainable After Christmas
After the festive period we are often surrounded by food leftovers, wrapping, packaging and more! When we want to be sustainable and environmentally friendly with our leftovers, it can be tricky to know what to do after the busy Christmas period in order to stay sustainable and make sure we get the most out of what we enjoyed, made, and received over Christmas and New Year.
It is important we limit our waste and make the most out of any surplus. Below are some top tips for how to make sure you’re using your leftovers sustainably, and lowering your carbon footprint where you can.
Post-Christmas Eco-Friendly Hacks
- Reduce your CO2 emissions and commit to Veganuary.
- Some wrapping paper can’t be recycled and some can, so recycle where appropriate and keep the rest for reuse next Christmas!
- Use left over packaging and paper to upcycle, and create more Christmas decorations for next year!
- Find recipes for ideas on how you can use your Christmas dinner leftovers, and reuse, freeze or repurpose food for more meals throughout the coming months.
- Go cold turkey in January and ditch the technology to decrease your carbon footprint, and save energy in your home. Additionally, if you’ve replaced your phones or laptops over Christmas, make sure you recycle your old ones!
