SWPA's Asset Safety and Compliance Conference Report April 2024
The South West Procurement Alliance (SWPA) held the Asset Safety and Compliance Conference on Thursday, 25th April 2024 at the Forge, in Winslade Manor near Exeter.
SWPA invited all of the Appointed Companies and Clients featuring on the frameworks to take part, present and share thoughts on industry-related and public sector topics. The frameworks featured on the day were the newly launched Refurbishment and Modernisation (RM3) Framework, Fire Safety (FS2) Framework and the Asset Safety and Compliance (ASC1) Framework. Literature, merchandise, and branding were included in the event to further aid the attendees, with extra information provided both in print and digital copy. After registering with the team, the attendees were welcomed into the conference by SWPA where they enjoyed networking and refreshments, as well as being provided with their own branding opportunities.
Penny Searson, SWPA’s Regional Manager, kicked off the day with an informative presentation on LHC PG, SWPA and the important highlights of the new frameworks, along with including some important themes for the team going into the new 2024 -2025 year, namely social value, energy efficiency, the community benefit fund, and the regional committee.
Promptly after, keynote speakers, Rider Levett Bucknall took to the stage to provide thorough and incredibly important information in regards to Building Safety, Regulations and information pertaining to the new Building Safety Act, even including some eye opening questions for the attendees.
SWPA’s Appointed Companies, such as Kovia Compliance, Orbis, Churchill Environmental, Lorne Stewart and PHS Compliance gave informational and much needed talks on the topics pertaining to their workstreams, covering the hotly anticipated topics on the Asset Safety and Compliance Framework. This included asbestos removal, water safety, electrical compliance, environmental clean, property protection, mastering mechanical services and much more. Soon after, Ventro and Ian Williams took to the stage to present on the importance and rigour of fire safety, and its huge significance within the industry.
Penny Searson, wrapped the day up the day by highlighting SWPA's next upcoming event, and inviting all of the attendees to the AGM and Social Value Conference 2024. SWPA also provided a follow-up pack which was sent out to all attendees, along with those who couldn’t make it, to allow for all to recap on the important and salient information which had been presented and discussed on the day.
