Case Study Profile: Cornwall One Parent Support
SWPA have established a community benefit fund, with our delivery partner South West Community Matters. Together we have focused our fund to small community groups so that we can achieve the most impact. Cornwall One Parent Support (COPS) has been in existence for twenty-seven years as there had been no support for one parent families in Cornwall. The group offers great support, with activities, events and outings planned and organised for the whole family.

Type of Group: Registered charity benefitting lone parents and their families.
Key Themes: Assisting families in need and ensuring they are able to take part in community activities, including people with health issues and those who feel socially excluded.
Activities Undertaken: Cornwall One parent Support as a charity aim to inform, educate, support, aim to improve the lives of one parent families, offer affordable or free activities and empower one parent families for a more positive future. The charity aims to alleviate any social isolation that one parent families often feel.
They also arrange and facilitate regular activities, information, signposting and on occasions run courses with successful grant applications that have been suggested and voted for by members. This has included family trips during the school holidays and at weekends. Some of the trips the charity has organised for the families listed below:-

They also offer workshops run by parent volunteers at weekends and holidays, including fun craft projects. Some of the Workshops run with help from by parent volunteer Lizzie Liz:-

- Polymer Clay
